Level 3A:
Ideal for registrars practicing in environments not dealing with emergency arrest situations on a regular basis. This class is the first of 3 designed to refresh the doctor’s understanding on paediatric arrest interventions and appropriate application of protocols. This particular level focuses on rapid assessment of the DRABCDE and appropriate interventions. Anatomy & physiology, pharmacology, and mechanisms of interventions are explored and discussed. The basics of team management are also introduced.
Skills: Paediatric CPR, basic and advanced airways (manual, oral/nasal, LMA, laryngeal tube, intubation), manual defibrillation, IV setup and administration, drug administration, ECG interpretation (in the arrest environment). Skill and theoretical competency in all areas are required for certification.

This course qualifies under the “Strengthening Medicare” GP Procedural Upskilling Support program for up to $2,000/day reimbursement (Category 1&2)
Level 3B:
Primarily designed for registrars in rural environments, or practicing in environments requiring resuscitation of complex paediatric patients. Some areas to be covered include: ICU arrest, neonatal, incubator/premature, near-drowning and traumatic arrest. Second line pharmacological interventions and stabilization techniques are also discussed. Again, this class is designed for those in advanced training who frequently encounter such events, or may be required to intervene with such cases. Level 3A (or 2A) completion is required prior to enrolment. Skill and theoretical competency in all areas are required for certification
